Quest for God's Own Heart
The Old Testament
Through the Eyes of Michael the Archangel
“‘Don’t
be afraid!’ Elisha told him. ‘For there are more on our side than on theirs!’
Then Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, open
his eyes and let him see!’ The Lord
opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside
around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.”
(2 Kings 6:16-17)
(Michael
the Archangel retelling the story of Elisha)
Elisha’s
servant fell to his knees when he saw my mighty army of angels riding the
chariots and horses of fire from Heaven. The flames from the chariots and
horses devoured the morning sky, as they seared the mountain tops surrounding
Elisha’s camp. Molten lava poured out of the eyes of the horses, and with every
breath, smoke erupted from their nostrils, enveloping the riders. I hovered
above them all, riding in God’s chariot. In my right hand, I held high the
spear of the Almighty God, ready to strike the Arameans.
Elisha’s
servant wept. “The horsemen and chariots of Heaven! Please help us, my God.”
Elisha got
on his knees. “Do not fear my friend, for our God is always on the side of His
servants. Never lose faith, for He is more powerful than anything we can ever
face. Stand with me and watch God’s mighty victory, for He will hand over the
Arameans to us today.”
Elisha
shouted with a booming voice, “O Lord,
the God of Israel, prove to the world that You’re the True and Living God by
blinding the Arameans. Bring victory to Your people today.”
I thrust God’s spear toward the enemies’ camp as a blazing
light pierced through the morning sky, searing the eyes of the Arameans. They
shrieked with sounds of terror, as they stumbled on the ground, grasping for
anything they could hold on to. Their horses, startled by the blazing light,
thundered through the valley, leaving them helpless. “Hadad, our mighty god of
war, please help us,” they cried, still crawling on the ground.
